Today, I had my 32 week appointment. I can't believe it...32 weeks and 3 days down, only a little over 7 weeks to go. Everything looked good at the appointment. I'm still measuring ahead of schedule...3 weeks ahead this time. I didn't gain any weight either, which was a little shocking since I feel so much bigger! Dr. Hurry ensured me that the baby will get what he needs from me, but said "I know this sounds funny, and you wouldn't expect me to say this, but try to eat more high-calorie foods." I know I had to look at her like she was crazy....but she said, "don't be worried to have that little bit of extra ice cream if you want it!" Well, that's all great, but ice cream doesn't even sound good to me. It's the frosted animal cookies that I'm so addicted to! For the most part, when it comes to food, I've been trying to be healthy. Of course, I've had my days where I've hit up Taco Bell and manage to spend $10 on just myself. As the weeks pass, though, it's getting harder and harder to fit as much food in my oh-so-smashed stomach.
So beside the food issue, I've also been experiencing lots of Braxton-Hicks contractions the past couple weeks. It's a pretty weird feeling actually :) Another new occurrence....baby hiccups! It's really neat, but I kinda feel bad for him. One day he had four episodes of hiccups. Hiccups make me miserable...I know it can't be any fun for him either. But, it's a good sign that baby is healthy and is getting ready to breathe on his own when he gets here!
I have my first baby shower this weekend with Tim's family. I'll post an update and pictures after that. Also, I'm hoping to get the nursery done within the next two weeks so hopefully I'll get pictures of that up, too. If not, I'll at least post some "in-progress" pics!

Straight No Chaser: 12 Days -- MUST SEE!
This is Straight No Chaser, a group that originated at IU Bloomington...well known to Hoosier fans!!! I love them....
30 week appointment
Today, I had my 30 week check-up with Dr. Hurry. We discussed the results of the ultrasound I had a few weeks ago that showed Baby Beam to be 5 weeks ahead of schedule. Looks like he just had a early growth spurt after all. Everything was perfect on the ultrasound and there is no cause for concern. She said, however, she wants to do another ultrasound closer to the due date to monitor his size. I'm happy about this, as I want to know what I'm up against here....I don't want to vaginally deliver a 10 lb baby...ahh! So, monitor away Dr. Hurry....do all the ultrasounds you want! I also gained 3 lbs this month, which puts me up to a total of 19 lbs. Not bad! Other than that, Baby Beam and I are doing pretty well. I can't wait to meet him, and I'm sure he's curious about me too....with all the mood swings I've had lately he probably thinks I'm crazy, but surely he'll love me anyway!

Whoa, Big Boy!
Since my 20 week appointment, I have been measuring 2 weeks larger. Well, to our surprise, when I went in for my 28 week visit I measured 5 weeks ahead....the size of a woman who is 32 weeks along! It was especially surprising since I didn't gain a single pound from the month before. So, Dr. Hurry (she's so wonderful:)) wanted to do an ultrasound just to make sure everything looked okay. The possibilities were that I had too much amniotic fluid or, in her words, I was just "brewing a big baby." Good news though...it seems he's just a big boy. His head circumference, length, arm/leg bones were all measuring to that of a baby 32 weeks of gestation. He's also weighing in at approximately 3.5 lbs....almost a pound more than the average! I didn't see Dr. Hurry today, but the ultrasound tech said sometimes babies just have growth spurts at different times. She thinks that maybe he just had an early growth spurt and from here on out he'll slow down and still be the size of your average baby by birth. We'll see what Dr. Hurry thinks on December 18th! Tim thinks it's all the Vitamin Water I'm drinking...it's true I'm addicted!!! :)
As excited as I was to get an ultrasound today, I was slightly disappointed because we didn't have our usual ultrasound tech. This tech rushed through the appointment and didn't take very clear pictures... Nonetheless, I was still so excited to see him!

This is a profile of the face. Some say he may be scratching his head....I say he's flexing that bicep!

This is the left foot...and it looks so much bigger than it did at 20 weeks! No wonder my ribs are always so sore. Some days I swear he's going to be the next Karate Kid.
This is a front view of the face...although it only really shows half of the face. It looks like he's got Tim's big Angelina lips!
That's all for now....as requested, I will try and post a belly pic this weekend :)

26? Really?
So, today is my 26th birthday...yes, it's official I'm in my mid-20's! It's weird though, because usually I'm in disbelief that I've turned another year older, and am usually trying to convince myself that I'm now an adult (yes, I really have tried convincing myself since Iwas 20...but deep down I still feel like a kid!). This year it's just not hitting me the same, I think because I have so many other major changes coming my way,....bigger changes than just turning another year older. This year I'm going to be a Mom and a nurse! If you would've told me a year ago this was going to be my life, I would've laughed and called you crazy. Funny how no matter how hard we may try to plan out our lives, it never goes quite as expected. Tim would always get on my case about being such a "planner"...it drove him crazy! A year ago, I thought I had my life planned out until age 30, and just in the past 7 months (when I first learned I was pregnant) I've learned just to stop being so ridiculous with the timelines, enjoy the moment, and just go with it. So from now on, you'll find me just "going with it"....I'm 26 and it feels good!

So I'm finally starting this thing...
So, a few of my friends have these blogs, and to follow and comment on theirs, I figured I'd have my own too. Or, maybe I'm just bored with facebook and myspace. I'm needing something new :) It's official...here's my first post. I'll be posting info on the pregnancy, and anything else I might feel like sharing......check back soon! Love always, Courtney
